2017 Liebster Award Nominee

2017 Liebster Award Nominee

I am so excited that Whine & Dancing has been nominated for the 2017 Liebster Award! The Liebster Award is given to bloggers by other bloggers as a way to connect and support the blogging community. Liebster in German means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome. It is a great way for new bloggers to get recognition and promotion. Bloggers helping other bloggers is always a good thing!

Who I was nominated by?

Thank you so much Sarah from A Simple and Contented Life for the nomination! Sarah’s blog is all about loving your life! She provides tools and tips for taking back control and creating a family life that is enjoyable and less stressful. Doesn’t that sound like something we all need?!?

It is so wonderful to be recognized for my hard work. Sarah, your nomination is much appreciated and came at a time when I really needed something uplifting to keep me going on this long, exciting journey of blogging!

My Favorite Blog

Right now, my favorite blog is Big Bear’s Wife. I do not personally know Angie, but I feel like I do after reading her blog. She loves Halloween (like me). Her writing style is very personable and easy to read. Her recipes are fun and delicious and keep things interesting! She doesn’t have a background in cooking, but you wouldn’t know it based on her recipes. Some of my favorites include:

Homemade Spaghetti O’s
Cherry Pie Sugar Cookies
Cheesy Taco Pasta
Homemade Brown Sugar Poptarts
Chicken Bacon Alfredo Lasagna

She works with several other bloggers to provide Weekly Meal Plans to their readers which I love to browse when I need some meal plan inspiration for my own family!

Angie also has caught the travel bug and writes about travel tips. While I am not at a stage I can travel easily (with 3 young children), I love reading her tips and ideas for travel. She even includes some cool crafts in her blog.

I really admire her entrepreneurial spirit and how she has carved out her own niche in the food blogging world!

My Nominations

Each blogger nominated for the award must also nominate 5-11 new bloggers with less than 200 “followers”. Since it is difficult to know how many subscribers a blogger has, I chose to go by facebook “follows” and picked blogs that I knew were still relatively young. I selected these fellow food bloggers because I can tell they have been working very hard on their content and quality. And I just like them a lot! Here are my nominations for the 2017 Liebster Award:

Megan Steele – The Unseasoned Foodie
Julie Villani – I Can Live without Sugar
Elaine Watkins – Elaine Watkins
Sara Bamford – Shared Dessert Company
Jadie Aranda – Eat My Science

Congratulations Ladies! Well done! Now it is your turn to pay it forward!

My answers

What has been your biggest challenge with blogging?

My biggest challenge is just finding time to blog. I would certainly love to spend more time on my blog, but I also love sleep (and I am not going to take time away from my kids to do it). So, right now, I get up 30 minutes early in the morning to blog, write during afternoon nap and do social media marketing at night before bed. It means my progress is slower than others, but I am ok with that.

What is your number one tip for other bloggers?

Invest in education. There is no need to reinvent the wheel. Learn from other bloggers on how they found success. I figured, even if my blog fails, I can use the same training to launch my career in other industries or maybe helping other bloggers. There are some courses that may not be very useful so do your research first, but for me, investing in a blogging course has been the greatest investment.

What are your hobbies other than blogging?

I do not have much time outside of blogging and raising my children for hobbies, but I have always been an avid reader. I love reading all kinds of books, science fiction, drama, nonfiction, etc. I really love the Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold. I cannot wait until she writes another one!

What successful entrepreneur do you admire?

I really admire Crazy Aaron, the owner and creator of Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty. While working full time, he taught himself Chemistry and Physics enough that he could improve on the original putty to make it more fun for kids and adults. He worked really hard and spent nights and weekends on a product that he wanted to inspire creativity. I think that is awesome!

Who is your favorite blogger and why?

My favorite blogger is Angie from Big Bear’s Wife. See above for my write up about her. She’s amazing!

Tell us about your blog and why you started blogging.

My blog is about providing simple meals for busy families. I am not afraid to used canned goods or premade items to get dinner on the table. I think so many families frequently eat out and struggle with making simple, quick meals at home. My goal is to help those families feel more comfortable in their own kitchen so they can eat at home together!

What’s an item you cannot live without?

My computer. I love my phone, but I will always need my computer.

What and who motivates you to write?

My kids motivate me to work hard, but my readers (current and future) motivate me to write. I really do want to help others and feel this blogging thing is a great way to reach a wide variety of people.
