About this blog

Thank you for visiting Whine and Dancing blog! I am on a mission to help the modern busy family. I plan to provide:

– Simple recipes that are delicious and kid friendly

– Tips on organizing your kitchen to make it easier to cook

– Meal planning advice

I want to help the modern family get back in the kitchen, get back to cooking, and get your family back around the dinner table.

About Me

When I was younger, I loved cooking for my parents. I grew up as an only child. During the summer, I would plan these elaborate, 4-course meals for my parents during the week. My parents would come home to find the side door from the garage locked and a note from me asking them to go through the front door. There I would giddily greet them and ask them to come sit down at their table. I was so excited to be able to serve them this meal I worked so hard to cook. All the time, my dad would complain, “I just want to change my clothes.”

Flash forward 25 years. I am married with 3 children now (a 7 year old, a 3 year old, and a 1 year old). There are no more 4 course meals. If I am lucky, I can get them to eat more than 6 bites of their main course. Somedays we are so busy, we rarely sit around the dinner table. Many nights, I find myself standing up to eat while I help the 3 year old finish “a few more bites”. My cooking is much more simplified, but I still try to keep it fun and delicious.

Picky Eaters Live Here

I have picky eaters. Some people might say, well, that’s because you have a 3 year old. All 3 year olds are picky. I am not even talking about my 3 year old. She is actually the least picky family member!

Let’s start with my husband. When I tell people my husband is picky, they sort of chuckle and start to give me advice on how to “trick” him into eating certain things. So, let me try to make this clearer, my husband is so picky, he doesn’t even eat pizza sauce. We have to order our pizzas ‘dry’. He can smell a slice of onion in anything! Don’t get me wrong, there are somethings over the last 14 years that I have been able to get him to try. But, he is PICKY!

Then, there is my 7 year old son. My son definitely takes after his dad. I can take all the simple ingredients my son loves and put them together in a different way. He will turn his nose up at bit and say, “I am not hungry tonight.”

I like to try new recipes to keep things interesting, but for my family, I always have to modify those recipes. This blog is about providing simple recipes for your busy {picky} eaters. We are not fancy or elegant in our meals. We don’t make complex stuff here. No one would eat it, except me!

Meals for the Busy Family

I also realize that we are just like any other modern family. We are BUSY! Everyone is busy. And there are many days I have found myself not wanting to cook or feeling that we “have nothing to eat in the house”. Whine and Dancing is also about providing quick, easy meal ideas to get you through those crazy evenings, but still keep you dining at home.

I am so glad you’re here. Thanks for joining me on this blogging journey. I am here to help you get more delicious, easy meals on the table, cater to your picky eaters and provide other tips and ideas along the way. I hope that you enjoy my recipes and ideas on Whine and Dancing – Simple Cooking for the Hectic Life!
