Cheeseburger Pizza with Burger Sauce

Cheeseburger Pizza with Burger Sauce

The weather is starting to turn cooler here. I always feel like it sort of sneaks up on me. One weekend, we are all swimming in the pool and the heat index is 105. Then, WHAM!, it is fall and the pool temperature drops! I always mourn the loss of summer, but am also excited about fall. Fall means the start of school and all our “activities”. And with that, we need even more simple, quick recipes at hand to make it through the busy weeknights. Cheeseburger pizza is a popular weeknight meal at our house.

I told you from the beginning, this blog is not about fancy or complicated recipes. This recipe is no exception. But it is delicious and the tangy burger sauce really makes it taste more like a cheeseburger. And making it at home is actually faster than ordering it to go. Plus, since you control the ingredients, you can add whatever veggies your own picky eaters will enjoy. Here’s my recipe for quick Cheeseburger Pizza with Burger Sauce.

Ingredients

1 lb. Ground beef, browned
1 Tbsp Burger Seasoning
Pre-made pizza dough crust (I use Pillsbury classic pizza dough)
1 Tbsp pizza sauce (or more if desired)
2 C. Shredded mild cheddar cheese

For Burger Sauce:
1/2 C. Ketchup
1/2 C. Mayo
2 Tbsp. red wine vinegar
2 Tbsp. dill pickle relish (optional)

Directions

Preheat oven based on pizza dough directions (probably 325).

Combine ketchup, mayo, red wine vinegar and relish in a small bowl. Set aside

Spray large baking sheet with cooking spray. Open pizza dough and spread out on baking sheet. Use your knuckles to gently spread the dough starting at the center and moving outward all the way around the pan. It is ok if your dough isn’t perfect.

Top uncooked pizza dough with 1 Tbsp. of pizza sauce. Bake according to pizza dough directions (about 10 minutes).

Remove from oven, top with additional pizza sauce if desired plus half of Burger Sauce. Top with cooked ground beef and shredded cheese. (If it weren’t for my picky eaters, I would also top with chopped tomatoes.)
