Make Your Own Lunchable Substitutes

Make Your Own Lunchable Substitutes

My son loves Lunchables.  As a mom, I also like the convenience of them. They are already prepackaged, and I know my son will eat them. But they are over-processed and have a lot of salt. They are also usually missing a fruit or veggie. Something to make them a little more filling and nutritious. That’s why I was really excited when I found these mini Street Taco-style tortillas. They inspired me to make some DIY Lunchables for my son’s lunches. But, you could also use these for a grown up version. Here are 5 different make ahead lunches to inspire you.

In some cases, I kept the components separate so my son could assemble them. For a few, I did the assembly for him.

Beef Tacos

I used Taco meat, shredded cheese, and mini tortillas with super sweet corn.

This one includes small breakfast sausage and a slice of American cheese rolled in a tortilla. I used a toothpick to keep them together. I also included blueberries and pretzel fish crackers.

For a different spin on pizza, I used BBQ sauce, sliced ham, and shredded cheese. Add your favorite fruit.

I hope these ideas inspired you to try some new ideas for your own lunch or child’s. One whole week’s worth of lunches in less than 30 min.
