After many years in the kitchen, I have learned that having the right tools makes a big difference. Even when your meals are simple, a specific kitchen tool can eliminate some steps or create less waste.  Plus, let me be frank, sometimes you just need some cool toys to make you fall in love with cooking again. I use these tools on a weekly, sometimes daily basis. They make cooking more simple and convenient. These are my favorite must-have kitchen tools.

Must-Have Kitchen Tools | whine and dancing blog | Having the right tools in the kitchen make cooking more convenient and more fun! These are my favorite, must-have kitchen tools!

Salad Scissors

I love these Pampered Chef Salad Chopper scissors. But, I use them to cut up boneless chicken. The bottom edge is curved, like a scoop, which makes it easy to get under chicken and cut the chicken up. They are really easy to clean since they are dishwasher safe.

Meat Browning Tool

The Mix N Chop (or what I like to call the meat chopper) is one of the best investments I ever made. I use it to crush up ground meat when I am browning it. I have used this tool so much that I forgot what I previously used to brown ground meat! You can also use it to pulverize berries or to help brown veggies. If you eat a lot of ground meat (beef, turkey or pork), you need one of these!

Oil Sprayer

Olive oil is so good for you, but sometimes you just need a little. I use a lot less olive oil with this Misto Oil Sprayer. Just fill it up with your favorite olive oil, pump the cap, and spray on. I use it to mist oil onto fish or veggies when I am baking them. Instead of drizzling tablespoons of oil, spray your skillet before sauteing. I even ordered a second one for lemon juice!

Hand-held Pot Strainer

Colanders take up a lot of space. If you have a kitchen with very little storage, a hand-held pot strainer is a great way to save space. It can easily be stored in a drawer. I also love that it doesn’t take up much room in my dishwasher.

Silicon Tongs

Metal utensils can damage your pots and pans, especially if they have a non-stick coating. I have replaced all my metal utensils with silicon tipped ones. But, by far, the utensil I use the most are my silicon tipped tongs. I feel like I have more control with tongs, instead of a flat spatula.

A cool, new kitchen toy may be just the thing you need to get excited about cooking at home again! I am always on the look out for new and practical kitchen tools. These are my current favorites. They help make cooking more convenient for me. What are some of your favorite kitchen tools?
